What One Touch Switch means in the UK

A plain-English explanation of the UK One Touch Switch process for home broadband and landline.

The process in one paragraph

One Touch Switch is a UK process for residential fixed broadband and landline switching. You choose and contact a new broadband provider. The gaining provider coordinates the switch with your current provider. Your old provider should communicate relevant information such as contract and early-termination-charge details where they apply.

Who does what

You do not have to negotiate a cease with the losing provider as a separate first step in the usual residential case. You still have to choose a product, complete the new provider’s order, and deal with anything that sits outside the broadband line — television, care alarms, monitored devices, or other bundles.

  • You: choose a deal, complete the order, check exit fees and bundles.
  • New provider: coordinates the switch and installs or activates the service.
  • Current provider: shares relevant contract information and stops the old service at the agreed point.
  • OneTouchSwitch: comparison and guidance only.
