Exit fees, in pounds, before you switch
An early-termination charge is what you pay if you leave a minimum term early. One Touch Switch does not delete it. The gaining provider does not pay it unless they have said so in writing.
Get the number before you get excited
Ask the current provider for the early-termination charge in pounds and pence, on a stated date. A monthly price times months remaining is a sketch; their figure can include a different calculation. Use their figure.
Add that figure to the first-year cost of the new deal. If the saving does not survive the fee, staying until the end date is often the cheaper switch.
Price rises and the right to leave
If the provider raises the price in a way that gives you a right to exit without the fee, the window is limited. The letter or email is the evidence. A social-media argument is not.
Pounds-and-pence rises that were in the contract when you signed are often not a fresh right to leave. The advert and the terms can both be true and still disappoint you.
Do not cease the line to 'stop the fee'
Cancelling first can start the fee and a cease, and it can remove the clean One Touch Switch path. Order with the new provider if you are ready, or wait if you are not. The fee is a contract question, not a button on this website.
If you are moving house, ask whether the fee is waived for a home move. Some contracts say yes, with conditions. Get the condition in the same conversation as the figure.
