Switching for someone else

The hub matches an account, not a helpful grandchild. Authority is a document, not a vibe.

Adult children switch broadband the way they sort bins: remotely, kindly, and with too much confidence in a password they were told at Christmas. The losing account is still in a parent’s name. The gaining order is in the child’s. The hub fails, or worse, it succeeds against a neighbour. Care is the reason. Process is the method. Skip the process and the care becomes an outage.

Authority first

Authorised third party on the losing account, or LPA accepted by both retailers, or the account holder present on the call. Pick one before you shop.

A screenshot of a bill is evidence of an account. It is not authority to cease it.

Names that match

The gaining order should match the losing account holder unless the retailer has a documented change. Helpful children who ‘just put it in my name’ are why matches fail.

If the plan is to take over the account because the parent wants that, do it as a customer change, then switch. Two steps, not a mash.

The care spec travels

Voice, telecare, a simple handset, a promise not to hide the hub in a new cupboard. Write these on the order notes. A cheaper FTTP that kills a pendant is not cheaper.

Flag vulnerability. It exists so you do not have to perform distress to a bot.

Helpfulness is not a match key. A name is.

Switching for someone else is one of the best reasons to use this site. It is also how wrong ceases happen. Slow down at the name.
